Houston Green Home Construction
We Build Green Homes.
Heavenly Inc, has been building homes for over 20 years, and we pride ourselves on having a track record of building green and eco friendly before green become trendy.
International Construction Design Build
Heavenly Homes builds to the National Green Building Standard, “BRONZE” and “SILVER” rating, as our standards. These ratings are certified by a 3rd party energy consulting company on every home. Below are some of the features included.
- Foam walls and Cellulose attic insulation provides true 99.9% coverage from the wall to the joist cavity. We provide the highest true R-value compared to any other
- insulation product. Foam in rafters as an option can provide a cleaner and semi-conditioned attic space vs a traditional non-conditioned attic. This allows for your HVAC equipment to be sized slightly smaller because the supply and return lines are installed in semi-conditioned space vs unconditioned.
- Dow Weathermate vapor barrier is made for the dense, humid air in the Gulf Coast region. It has a .4 perm rating vs. a.5 rating for Tyvek. This means less humid air is allowed into your exterior wall cavity, providing a more “air tight” home.
- 2x6 exterior walls are standard on all 12’ high walls, which includes additional insulation thickness and a total insulation value of R-19 in these areas. “T” and “L” block exterior wall joints vs traditional 3-stud or 2-stud, with middle blocking. Allows for insulation to flow continuously at all exterior wall joints vs having a 4.5” gap in insulation.
- Insulated exterior headers: engineered single-membered headers to allow insulation to fill more than half the thickness of the wall vs traditional header with no insulation. This technique adds to the overall “R” value of the perimeter wall system. (Figure A above)
- All of our 2-story plans have 1-1/8” thick subfloor that is glued, nailed and screwed to ensure no squeaky floor. In addition, the entire floor cavity is filled with Blown Cellulose insulation, which has the highest noise cancelation value of any other insulation, which acts as a noise dampener between the entire 1st and 2nd floors and adds additional energy efficiency to the home.
- The moisture of the wall cavity is measured prior to covering to ensure it is less than 19%. This will help prevent any mildew and mold growth from starting in your walls.
- Dual Pane Low-E windows with vinyl, composite or aluminum clad based on architectural design and desired color. All of these units use high grade Low-E glass which is the most critical component for all windows because 30% of heat loss/gain and air infiltration is through the windows.
- Recycled engineered floor trusses or tji’s.
- Led lighting in kitchen and main living area recessed cans and elevated ceilings.
- Energy Star Appliances.
LET'S DO OUR PART TO PRESERVE OUR BEAUTIFUL EARTH FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
HVAC EMENTITIES
- We offer a wide variety of HVAC systems starting from 16 SEER single stage all the way up to 21 SEER Infinitely Variable units which use less electricity than a light bulb when running on low and are “Smart” in that the compressor and blower communicate to each other to find the optimal setting based on current conditions of the home and the desired settings.
- Our professional HVAC team calculates for properly sized ducts, load, and equipment using Manual D, J and S. These formulas take into account which way the sun is facing, type of insulation, type and size of windows and many other detailed factors that are individual to each home. When it comes to HVAC, one size does not fit all. We take pride in ensuring the most energy efficient products we can provide.
- A Duct Blower test is performed to ensure the ducts and all joints are properly secured and have less than 6% leakage, which is very minimal compared to traditional unchecked installations.
- HEPA filters are installed on all HVAC units with a minimum MERV 8 rating. This not only helps indoor air quality but also makes changing filters much easier and required less often.
- All bath fans are Energy Star compliant and put on a single-push timer switch or humidity switch to quickly remove the warm moist air while taking a shower or bath or directly thereafter. This prevents mildew and mold from growing in your baths and makes it easier for your HVAC system to control humidity in your entire home.
- Foam strips installed on the bottom plate to prevent air from being pulled into the home from the stud cavities. It produces a tighter home, more energy efficient, and better air quality.
- 3rd party Blower Door or air leak tests on every home to certify the “Tightness” of our construction and the overall efficiency. Less than 7 Air Changes Per hour is considered Energy Efficient.
Water Conservation features
- Recirculating Tank less water heaters provide a reduced water usage and ensure hot water in a shorter period of time. In comparison to traditional tank water heaters, the tankless unit provides consistent temperature and energy savings by not heating water that is not being used. The flow rate is the only limiting factor on these units and should be checked if a large number of fixtures is being used at one time for a single unit.
- Water conservation practices using shower heads with less than 2.5 gpm, lavatory faucets less than 1.5 gpm, toilets less than 1.28 gallons. This is not mandatory but highly recommended for at least the secondary baths.
- Rain Sensor installed on all irrigation systems.
